Three roads after 10th
| Road | Time | Good for | Can you study further? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11th and 12th (school, or NIOS open schooling) | 2 years | Degrees, NEET, JEE, CA, law | Yes. It opens every degree course. |
| ITI trade | 1–2 years | Earning soon with a hands-on trade | Yes. Some states allow lateral entry into the second year of a diploma. You can also complete 12th through NIOS. |
| Polytechnic diploma | 3 years | Technical jobs and supervisor roles | Yes. Lateral entry into the second year of B.Tech / B.E. |
Choosing your 11th–12th stream
| Stream | Main subjects | Opens doors to |
|---|---|---|
| Science with Maths (PCM) | Physics, Chemistry, Maths | B.Tech / B.E., B.Arch, B.Sc, BCA, NDA. Commerce and arts degrees stay open too. |
| Science with Biology (PCB) | Physics, Chemistry, Biology | MBBS, BDS, BUMS, BAMS, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, B.Sc |
| Commerce | Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics | B.Com, BBA, CA, CS, CMA, law |
| Arts / Humanities | History, Political Science, languages and more | BA, law, journalism, teaching; civil services later |
Can’t decide between engineering and medicine? Taking Maths and Biology together (PCMB) keeps both open, but it means more work.

Short courses under Skill India
If you need to earn soon, short courses under Skill India schemes run for a few weeks to a few months and are often free. They cover solar, electrical work, sewing, retail, healthcare support and more. Each Work pathway lists the right course and how to find a centre.
Check before you apply. Exam names, eligibility, fees and seats change every year. Always confirm on the official website or the institution’s own notice. SkilledMuslim never charges anyone and does not arrange admissions.
