Courses Online

Learn online, free

Hands-on skills are learnt with your hands, under a trainer. But free online lessons from the government can help you choose a field, understand the theory and pass your exam. Online learning helps you understand. Only practice makes you skilled.

What online learning can and cannot do

Online helps you

  • See what a job really looks like before you spend months training for it.
  • Learn the theory: how things work, safety rules, drawings and calculations.
  • Practise for the exam with question banks and mock tests.
  • Revise at home, in your own language, as many times as you need.
  • Keep learning and move up after you start work.

Online cannot

  • Give you hand skill, speed or safe habits. Those come only from practice.
  • Replace supervised work on live wiring, gas, machines or patients.
  • Give you a licence or a trade certificate on its own.
  • Get you a trade job by itself. Employers hire for what you can do with your hands.

Use it before, during and after training

  1. Before you join: watch a few lessons on the field you are thinking about. If it doesn’t interest you after a few hours, try another field before you spend months on it.
  2. While you train: read the theory for your trade and do the mock tests. It makes the practical classes easier to follow and helps you pass the final exam.
  3. After you qualify: take short courses to learn new equipment, digital skills or English for work, and show employers you keep learning.

Work that is done on a computer, such as data entry, accounts, design or coding, can be learnt mostly online. Even then, build real projects and practise every day.

Learning from videos

  • Prefer official channels: government skill bodies, ITIs, recognised institutes and equipment makers.
  • Watch to understand, not to try live work. Never work on live wiring, gas or a vehicle’s brakes because a video showed you how. Do it first under a trainer.
  • Check the video follows Indian rules and standards. Wiring colours, codes and licences differ from country to country.
  • Ignore videos that promise quick money or a job if you buy their course.

Saving mobile data

  • Download e-books and PDFs once and read them offline.
  • Set videos to low quality. You can still follow the lesson.
  • Use free Wi-Fi where you can, such as at an ITI, library or community centre.
  • Watch with a friend from the same trade and discuss what you learnt.

What to avoid

  • Paying for an “online certificate” in a hands-on trade. Employers and licensing boards do not accept it in place of real training.
  • Paying for material that is free on the government portals above.
  • Anyone who promises a guaranteed job or a job abroad if you buy a course.
  • Sharing an OTP, your Aadhaar details or bank details with anyone who calls about a course.

Check before you rely on it. Portals change their courses and rules. Always use the official website (most end in .gov.in). SkilledMuslim is not connected to these portals, never charges anyone and does not sell courses.

Online learning helps you understand. Only practice makes you skilled. Choose your field, find a real training centre, and use these lessons alongside it.
