What this field is

A solar installation business surveys rooftops, quotes, installs systems, handles subsidy paperwork with the electricity board (DISCOM), and maintains systems afterwards.

It suits installers with 2–3 years’ experience who want to lead a small team.

It suits you if:

  • You have installed many systems and understand safety.
  • You can handle customers, quotes and paperwork.
  • You want to create jobs for others.

Starting capital without riba: start small, buy tools from savings, take advance payments against written quotes, or form a partnership (mudarabah or musharakah) with a trusted investor.

How to start

  1. Gain experience — see the Solar PV installer pathway.
  2. Register your business on Udyam and get GST.
  3. Register as a vendor on PM Surya Ghar for your DISCOM.
  4. Price a standard 3 kW job carefully: panels, inverter, structure, labour, transport and margin.
  5. Win your first customers through references; add maintenance (AMC) contracts for steady income.
  6. Hire and train helpers — ideally from the SkilledMuslim pool.

Where it can lead

  1. Installer
  2. Team leader — leads installations for a vendor.
  3. Registered vendor — your own customers and crew.
  4. Solar company — commercial projects and maintenance contracts.

Build it honestly

  • Never cut corners on earthing, structure or safety to win on price.
  • Never promise subsidy amounts you can’t confirm with the DISCOM.
  • Never take on debt you cannot repay from confirmed orders.
