What this field is
The UPSC Civil Services Examination selects officers for the IAS, IPS, IFS and other central services. State Public Service Commissions select deputy collectors, police officers and state officials.
Most successful candidates prepare for one to three years. State PSC exams follow a similar pattern and are a strong second option.
It suits you if:
- You want to serve society at scale.
- You read widely and write clearly.
- You can prepare patiently for years.
