What this field is
School teachers need a teacher-education qualification and, for most government and many private schools, a pass in a Teacher Eligibility Test: CTET (central) or your state’s TET.
Madrasa, Arabic and Islamic studies teachers, tutors and special educators are other options.
It suits you if:
- You enjoy explaining and helping children learn.
- You are patient and organised.
- You want stable, respected work.
Routes, time and cost
| Route | Who it suits | Time | Teaches |

| ITEP (BA B.Ed / B.Sc B.Ed) | After 12th, through NCET | 4 years | Classes 6–12 |
