What this field is

Logistics covers driving cars, vans, trucks and buses; delivering parcels and food; and working in warehouses that store and dispatch goods.

It is one of the fastest routes to income. A clean driving record, punctuality and honesty matter as much as the licence itself.

It suits you if:

  • You need to earn quickly.
  • You are careful, patient and calm on the road.
  • You are willing to work shifts and travel.

Apply for licences only through the official Parivahan Sewa portal or your RTO. Never pay touts for a licence without a test.

How to start

  1. Apply for a learner’s licence on Parivahan.
  2. Train at a recognised driving school and practise safely.
  3. Pass the driving test and get your licence.
  4. Start with delivery, taxi or company driver work and build a clean record.
  5. Get the commercial endorsement and heavy-vehicle training when eligible.

Where it can lead

  1. Delivery rider or driver — first income.
  2. Company or heavy-vehicle driver — steadier pay.
  3. Fleet supervisor or warehouse supervisor — manages drivers or stock.
  4. Own vehicle, then a small fleet — your own transport business.

Gulf jobs usually need experience and a trade test. Apply only through licensed agents listed on eMigrate, and never pay an agent for a job.

Safety and honesty

  • Never drive tired, on the phone, or after any intoxicant.
  • Never buy a vehicle on a high-interest loan you cannot repay.
  • Never pay an agent for a Gulf driving job.
  • Always wear a helmet or seat belt.

Learn online, free

Online learning helps you understand. Only practice makes you skilled. Use free government lessons alongside your training.

  • Before you join: learn the road signs and traffic rules you need for the learner’s licence test.
  • While you train: for vehicle repair, use the Mechanic Motor Vehicle trade on Bharat Skills.
  • After you qualify: driving itself must be learnt on the road with a trained instructor, never from videos.

Can’t afford training?

Money should not stop you. These routes cost little or nothing:

  • Skill India (PMKVY): look for a short course such as Commercial Vehicle Driver or Warehouse Associate at a Skill India centre near you, usually at no cost. Search on skillindiadigital.gov.in.
  • DDU-GKY: for poor rural youth, with training linked to a job at the end. Ask at your block office or State Rural Livelihood Mission.
  • State transport training: some state transport corporations run low-cost heavy-vehicle driving courses. Ask at your nearest depot.

Applying costs nothing. Never pay an agent to get you into a government scheme.
